If you have already purchased a Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, then you may be looking for a protective case to protect your precious device. You may also wonder if the official Pixel 6 case and case are worth it.

Since the launch of Pixel 2, Google has provided an official fabric protective case. This year, with the launch of Pixel 6, the official protective case no longer has the beautiful and soft texture that we are accustomed to. Instead, Google completely abandoned fabrics and decided that plastic was something that the Pixel 6 series needed to protect.

The price is high at $29 per box, but it is still cheaper than classic fabric options. However, like any official case, this should mean something. First, a more accurate fit. Secondly, better device aesthetics. To help determine if this is the case, we tested all official cases of each color to better determine if they are worth nearly $30.

As part of Google's continuous efforts to increase the use of recycled materials on, inside, and part of equipment and accessories, the packaging of the official shell series of Pixel 6 and 6 Pro is a peeling thing. There are very few things in the box, not the need for:

Save each box, once you remove the fabric loop and any stickers from the top of the box, you should be able to recycle the cardboard packaging. In general, this is simple but effective, because we are not here to find boxes, are we?

If you want anything other than matte or translucent finishes on the smartphone case, then you might want to check out something other than the official Pixel 6 case. Google makes things simple, there are only three cases for Pixel 6 and four cases for Pixel 6 Pro.

You can choose the official Pixel 6 case in three different colors, including: stormy sky, light rain, and cotton candy. Pixel 6 Pro has received additional colors, which can be selected from: stormy sky, light frost, soft sage, and golden halo exclusively available on the Google Store.

You can pair your phone with a phone case of the correct color, or because each phone case is not clear, if you don’t care about the appearance of your phone at all, just use the soft Stormy Sky color. Our suggestion is to choose a case that matches your phone as much as possible, because it looks more attractive and feels more cohesive.

Although there is a matte finish, it does not increase the touch, because each case feels very "smooth" when you grasp it. The polycarbonate chassis is sturdy but rubbery, which can undoubtedly absorb bites and scratches, but it is hard to deny that it is not as good as fabric. This is obviously subjective, but even though Pixel 6 has a unique design, the new design is a bit "universal."

Due to the double-layer design, the core "frame" of each case is strong, but has a soft lip that allows you to snap the Pixel 6 or 6 Pro in. This is most prominent around the button cover, and it is disappointing to add any color, just like the previous situation. In our opinion, Google really missed a trick in this regard, because the colored power button will add a little extra flavor.

It’s also worth noting that when installing each case on the Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, the softer edges may get stuck. You can adjust it easily, but it's a bit annoying at first, it's common on silicone sleeves. This does mean that the edges of your monitor and device frame are not in direct contact with the polycarbonate.

On Pixel 6, each case adds more volume than you might expect, but it’s easier to protect the edges of the display because the "edge" of the case ensures that your screen won’t touch when placed on a surface. This is not obvious in the official Pixel 6 Pro case, but it may be due to the design and shape of the curved screen.

The upper earpiece speaker also has a slight insert that helps shape the sound outward, but also allows the audio to be projected at you without blurring or muting. This can help improve quality when making calls, but not as much as on some other devices.

The only other cutouts are for the camera bar, USB-C charging port, and bottom launch speaker. These grille cutouts also help shape the sound in a similar way to the earpiece insert, providing a small and precise cutout for the sound to escape.

Most USB-C cables can charge well, but the cutout provides enough swing space for thicker insulated cables. Obviously, Google wants us to use a built-in cable or similar-sized options to maximize compatibility with the Pixel 6 official case lineup.

In the back, there are a few points to note. Depending on the color you choose, there will be a color-coded "G" mark at a position much higher than the old fabric protective cover. Obviously, this is due to the removal of the capacitive fingerprint scanner that is usually located on the back of the Pixel. This is the largest "Googley" style in this year's official Pixel 6 and 6 Pro protective shell lineup. Although appreciated, it is not a huge addition. However, it is stamped in each case, which adds a nice touch under your fingers.

Thanks to the new camera strip, housing manufacturers will undoubtedly encounter some problems in protecting the new lens settings. Google decided to add a square "lip", if you put the phone face up on the surface, this should mean good protection and stability. It should also help prevent damage from falling.

This is a good compromise because no part of the camera bar is covered or blocked. Yes, this does mean that some other protective cases will provide a little extra protection along the curved edges, but they will not allow you to appreciate this impressive and unique design feature without changing the overall aesthetic.

The official Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro protective cases provide good protection, which is more like an extension of the design. Compared with some similar style third-party options, there is a small increase in size that makes them more difficult to recommend, but the price of $29 is more like a stumbling block.

Google provides a good combination of protection and quality, but the official case lineup may not be the best choice for everyone. They deflect dirt and grime better than fabric shells, which is for sure, but therefore they feel a bit sterile. If what you really want to know is whether the official case is worth nearly $30, then unfortunately, the short answer is no.

You can get the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro case series directly from Google Store, Amazon, Best Buy, B&HPhoto, etc.
